The House of Israel Art is an educational and research center founded in October 2013 to fill a gap in the study of local art in Israel, and provide a much needed platform for public education and discussion.
The house runs a one-year certificate program of studies, providing graduates for tools for art curating, journalism, trading and collecting, but courses can also be taken on a stand-alone basis.
The house offers 14 courses a year in a diverse range of areas, from survey topics such as "A 100 Years of Israeli Art" to specific topics such as "Contemporary Israeli Photography" or "Palestinian Art". In addition, the house hosts lectures, conferences, seminars and visits to art collections to diverse audiences—from undergraduate students, through art collectors and connoisseurs, to the wide public. House programs run both in Hebrew and English.
More than 200 students have so far taken part in courses, and more than 1,000 participated in 5 conferences held so far at the House. In future, House activities will extend to academic research and publishing, which would influence the international status of Israeli art.
