Naomi Chazan in professor (emerita) of political science and African studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and served as the Dean of the School of Government and Society at the Academic College of Tel Aviv-Yafo between 2005-2017.
She specializes in comparative politics, African politics, gender and politics and Israeli political processes. She has written and edited eight books and many dozens of articles in these field.
Naomi Chazan has served as a visiting professor and research fellow at leading universities, including Harvard University and MIT and for many years has been a senior research fellow at the Truman Institute of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and co-director of WIPS—The Center for the Advancement of Women in the Public Sphere—at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute.
Professor Chazan has devoted years to public service, including serving as a Member of the Knesset (1992-2003), President of the New Israel Fund (2008-2012) and as a member of the board of a variety of human rights groups, women's organization and peace groups in civil society.
